Origin

The Chow Chow originated in China. It is a very old dog breeds, this breed is known to have been in existence 2,000 years ago. Somes say that these breed is a cross breed between the Tibetan Mastiff and the Samoyed. They was bred for hunting, working dogs, guardian, sled puller, and boat guard.

These breeds of dogs was registered with the AKC in 1903.

Coat

The Chow Chow is a large and sturdy and a quite a dopey expression. He has two different varieties coat, which are smooth coat and rough coat. Both the rough and smooth coat have a thick, dense undercoat. The rough coat is straight and stands out from the body. The smooth coat is dense exterior coat with a softer undercoat.

The coat colors comes with red, solid red, black, cinnamon and cream.

Character

Chow Chow character is very quiet ,elegant, and is very independent dog breeds. They are most easily learned of the dog toilet manner. But their ruthless unique character, they just like cats, very selfish, indepedent and stubborn.

Training

The obedience and socialization training should start from an early age to ensure that he has an even temperament and stable personality. During the socialization training, he should meet all different kinds of people, especially children.

They requires a intense and extensive training with consistency, firmness, fairness, and patience.

Grooming 

Grooming the Chow Chow long coat may requires some work. They is requires daily brushing with a soft bristle or curry bomb. Because this dog breeds is a seasonal heavy shedder, so that extra work may needed on these dog, when shedding is at its heaviest, daily brushing is better.

You may also need to have these dog for a proffesional groomed occasionally.

Overview

These dogs are alert and intelligent, and it can be difficult to get some Chow Chows to do anything that they do not want to do. They does better with an experienced dog owner who understands these breed temperament well.

They are quite good with children, and may reserved with the strangers because of his protective streak.
